On Saturday 25th February, Altrincham FC welcomed Guide Dogs Charity to The J.Davidson Stadium for the home fixture against Worcester City. As part of Altrincham FC In The Community (AITC) work, a recent initiative was started to help local charities raise awareness of their causes. AITC are inviting local charity organisations to come along on a home matchdays and promote their work by holding an information stall in the sports hall before and during the game They can also have a child mascot lead the AFC team onto the pitch, talk with fans, write a programme article and access free match tickets.

Community Co-ordinator, Judy Henson, says: “The local Guide Dogs Charity branch got in touch with me after hearing about the recent Trafford Mencap awareness day. They brought a large group of volunteers and dogs along and took over the ground, it was amazing to see. One of their children was the team mascot along with one of the dogs, which I’m sure that’s got to be a first for AFC. Luckily none of the dogs went chasing after the ball, as the team went on to win their first league home game of the season, winning 2-0. ”
