On Saturday 8th April, Altrincham FC welcomed Trafford Veterans to The J.Davidson Stadium for the home fixture against Brackley Town.
Trafford Veterans @ The MESS are a charity based in the Trafford Borough of Manchester in the UK. They were created after their founders Andy Graham & Claire Wright met during an armed forces mental health first course, which Andy was delivering at the Training & Development Centre of Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service.
Andy has served in the army and the fire & rescue service while Claire has served in the navy and the police service.
Trafford Veterans representative, Claire Wright, said: “A big THANK YOU to our volunteers who came to help us yesterday. And also a big THANK YOU to Altrincham FC for having us as their guests. We raised £57.20 at the turnstiles collection. This will be put to good use buying equipment or food for our next breakfast Club.”
As part of Altrincham FC In The Community (AITC) work, a recent initiative was started to help local charities raise awareness of their causes. AITC are inviting local charity organisations to come along on a home matchdays and promote their work by holding an information stall in the sports hall before and during the game. They can also have a child mascot lead the AFC team onto the pitch, talk with fans, write a programme article and access free match tickets.
